My yoga journey

I discovered the concept of yoga in 2015 while backpacking through Southeast Asia. I became so fascinated by it that only a few months after first discovery I went straight to India to take a course.I attended my first teacher training in Rishikesh. It was a 200-hour course mainly based on Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga, which are among the more physical and demanding yoga styles. The training was intense and busy from morning to evening — multiple yoga classes, breathwork, meditation, philosophy and other traditional teachings.Right after that, I started practising and teaching regularly.
In 2017 I returned to India, again to Rishikesh, for an additional 300-hour training to deepen my practice and teaching skills.
Since then I always offered casual yoga sessions whenever there was space for it — for example while travelling in Spain, Mexico and Las Palmas, where I stayed for a longer period. Back in Estonia, during 2021–2022, I also ran a small yoga studio to create a more permanent and grounded space for practice.~~
To clarify — yoga, meditation and breathwork are deeply connected, but they can also be practised separately to focus more deeply on one area at a time. Yoga itself can range from very physically demanding practices to soft and restorative ones. The experience varies greatly from practice to practice and from teacher to teacher.
Breathing exercises, known in India as pranayama, are also extremely diverse. There are hundreds of different techniques, all serving their own purpose. Some are used to calm the mind, some to energise the body and overcome laziness or mental fog. Others can be used for deeper inner work connected to emotions, traumas and past experiences.
